Car Insurance Nissan (Car Insurance). is it more fuel efficient to drive with the windows down instead of using air conditioning?is it more fuel efficient to drive with the windows down instead of using air conditioning? I know air conditioning increases fuel consumption but so does the drag created by the windows being open. So im confused about which is the most fuel efficient way to cool a car I saw it on mythbusters, searched this for you. I've heard it many times & the pros say driving on the hwy with the windows up & the a/c on makes hardly any noticeable difference in fuel economy. Depending on what type of air conditioning you have. Some types are like this: Cool air is taken directly from the air outside. Hot air is taken directly from the engine heat. it is more fuel efficient to drive with windows down in city and windows up and a/c on on freeway it depends how much. if you only put your windows down a little bit and if you are going slowly that is the best option. however on the motorway or when you are going faster it is probably better if you use air conditioning The Mythbusters tested this. It doesn't make any difference. So it's your choice to use AC or not. Auto parts : O-Ring And Seal Pick Acura 1995 . Off Road Jack Alfa Romeo 1996 . Office Chair Audi 1997 . Nissan . About Leather InteriorsWhen you hear the words "leather interior," you automatically think of the inside of a car. Many cars come with at least some leather on the inside, and it is usually considered a luxury item. Significance Leather on the inside of a car is a statement of sorts. It is considered a luxury item and does not come standard in many vehicles. It is, however, only standard in luxury cars. If you want to have it is a more basic car, you will have to pay a price. Function The main purpose of leather interiors is to cover the inside of a car with a higher quality covering that is resistant to stains and lasts longer over time. Prevention/Solution Wipe the leather down regularly with a cloth to keep it free of dust and other debris. Use a leather cleaner once every few months to keep your seats clean. Follow with a leather conditioner to hold in moisture. Leather that is not kept hydrated can dry out and crack. If you come across a person from an older generation, they will swear that all you need is Vaseline and a dry towel to keep the moisture in. While this in not necessarily recommended by manufactures, it has not been shown to hurt the leather. Of course, it should not be used on a suede type material. Benefits There are a few different benefits to having leather interior. Spills are easier to clean due to the fact that the leather does not absorb liquid. It lasts for many years because of the thickness of the material. Also, if you have leather on your dash or the inside of your car doors, it is less likely to crack from heat exposure as compared to the plastic interiors that usually are installed in those locations. Considerations Even though leather seats set a certain tone with a car and most would consider them the better material for the inside of a car, they are an added cost that does not have to be spent. This money could go into a better quality car, added safety features, or used for the overall maintenance of the car. In general, leather seats cost anywhere from $1500 to $2500 dollars, depending on the manufacturer and the quality of the car being purchased. Generally speaking, the more expensive the car, the more expensive the options are that can be included. The prices stated above are just a ballpark example and are not standard. From a comfort perspective, leather seats are not always comfortable. Leather requires time to break in and can be rather stiff for some time. You can purchase leather softeners that will speed up the process of making the seats softer, but this is another added expense and will take up time that you may not be able to give.
Nissan . How to Care for Leather Car SeatsYou can prolong the life of your car's leather interior by giving it tender, loving care. Follow these steps. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Step by Step : 1 Block the sunlight. Whenever you are not driving, or your car is going to be in direct sunlight, place a sun blocker in your windshield. They are available at your local Autozone, Pep Boys store, or on eBay. 2 Purchase or rip old t-shirts to shreds. Auto stores such as Pep Boys or Autzone sell t-shirt fragments that you can use as cloths. It is imperative that you use a cotton product over a paper towel product. Paper towels are made of wood (on the simplest level) and no matter how refined will cause scratching. 3 Buy protection. Leather conditioners can be purchased on eBay, at Pep Boys or even at Auto Zone. Armorall or Lane's Liquid Leather are fantastic products which both stores carry and which will treat your leather. 4 Generously spread leather protection. With your cloth in one hand and leather protectant in the other, generously spread the lotion onto the cloth and wipe liberally over seats. Ideally there should be a wet film that is left on each piece of leather in the car. Just like when treating a leather jacket, the lotion will slowly soak in. 5 Crack the windows. In the summer, crack the windows to keep the heat moderate in your car. Even when temperatures are only 70 degrees outside, the inside of the car can easily heat up to 100 degrees in the sun. Over time this will fade your leather. By cracking the windows you are relieving such pressure. However, your car's leather will fair better in colder weather and damage from extreme temperatures will be less of an issue. Congratulations, you have just learned how to care for leather seats in your car!
